COVID-19 UPDATE, May 15

Dear Friends of Two Moon Lodge,

In the two weeks that have passed since our last update a lot has changed. One change is that we are happy to be back up at the lodge working on getting things opened up and doing improvements. Being here alone in the wilderness, listening to the loons and watching spring take hold always amazes the two of us!

A second change has been the move to reopening certain sectors of the Canadian economy. Here in Quebec, the plan is unfolding cautiously, as there is a high number of COVID cases in the city of Montreal, but very few in regions like Temiscaming, where we are located. Travel restrictions into Quebec from Ontario have now been lifted, but authorities advise travellers to exercise caution, avoid unnecessary stops and continue to maintain social distancing.

Beginning May 20, tourist outfitters will be permitted to operate for day activities only (boat rental, guided fishing, etc). If conditions continue to improve, it is conceivable that Quebec Health officials will announce the opening of overnight accommodation outfitting in the coming weeks. We are in regular communication with the Quebec Outfitters Federation and we promise to provide an announcement to our guests as soon as we receive official confirmation.

However, it won’t be business as usual. First, the Canadian border remains closed to our American friends. There has not been any official word on when the border may open, but discussions are ongoing. We have reached out and made alternative arrangements with our American clients who had bookings prior to June 20th.

The Quebec Outfitters Federation has been working closely with health officials to develop specific protocols to ensure the safety of guests and workers. Upon resumption of operations at Two Moon Lodge, we will be bound to follow requirements and recommendations consistent with the tourism industry. Aspects from greeting guests, transport to the lodge, cleaning and hygiene will need to comply with the strictest sanitary and health safety measures. We will be providing details on our website, social media and personal customer communication on how these measures will affect your visit to Two Moon Lodge this summer. It is a beautiful remote place that we all want to enjoy!

So, for now, we are preparing the Lodge for you. We will update our guests once we hear officially how and when we will be able to open for the 2020 season.

In the meantime, we will make sure to leave a few fish for you!
