If you have been to Two Moon Lodge before, then you get it. You know how lucky you are to stay and play at such a unique and amazing place. Looking out from your cabin at Two Moon Point you see a vast island-dotted lake, free from cabins, buildings and roads, with only the occasional boat coming by to fish the fantastic waters in front of your camp. You know how fortunate you are to have such great fishing only a one or two-minute boat ride from your dock. You know that a twenty-minute boat ride has
brought you to the heart of the of the lake’s best fishing. You get it: you don’t have to go back.
You have better things to do with your vacation time. Things like going on a hike on one of our wilderness trails. Behind Two Moon Point we have constructed and maintain a beautiful walking trail following the shore to the remains of an old trapper’s cabin, to the area’s finest beach, through a pine forest, meadow and birch grove, returning to the lodge. It takes about forty minutes to complete the hike, about the same time as it takes to boat here from the nearest access point.
Or, you can spend forty minutes relaxing in a rejuvenating yoga session. Every day, Julie leads a gentle session of Hatha Yoga on our beautiful yoga dock or inside the lodge in front of the floor-length windows, over-looking Loon Bay. This week, we had moms, dads, and children all enjoying Julie’s wonderful routine of stretching and meditation, accompanied by the sounds of birds singing and waves lapping.
Forty minutes is also the perfect amount of time to explore the area around Two Moon Point in one of our canoes or kayaks. Bear Island, Picnic Island, Wolf Bay, the Narrows are just a short paddle away. For the novice paddler, we have stable, user-friendly canoes or kayaks, and for those who appreciate a finer craft, we have vintage cedar-canvas canoes.
Grab one of our DaVinci or Scott mountain bikes and take a forty-minute ride to the beaver dam along an easy and flat bike path. For the more adventurous, a short carry of the bike over the beaver dam takes you on an old roadbed through a maturing forest. You can make it a gentle ride to take nature photos, or as a full-blown workout—it’s up to you.
If your heart is set on a forty-minute boat ride, then Campbell Bay is the place to go. This long, narrow and deep inlet at the south end of Loon Bay is where we like to pack a lunch head for an afternoon of cliff-jumping, berry picking and picnicking. A favourite for families of all ages, a Campbell Bay adventure becomes the highlight of your stay at Two Moon Lodge.
Guess how long it takes to bake ten thin-crust pizzas in our wood-fired pizza oven? About forty minutes at 700 degrees. That’s how we do our weekly gourmet pizza cookout. Homemade pizza dough, fresh buffalo mozzarella, San Marzano tomatoes, topped with fresh produce and herbs from our patio-side garden. Served at 5 pm with plenty of time to get to your fishing hole.
Oh, and forty-minutes makes the perfect afternoon nap.
